'Stop Maligning Law Enforcement Officers' - Attorney General Warns Afenyo-Markin

Accra, Ghana - 24 March, 2025 - Ghana's Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has publicly condemned Minority Leader Alexander Afenán-Markin for making "baseless" allegations against National Security operatives.
The operatives had conducted a search at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, prompting Afenán-Markin to claim that personal belongings, including jewelry and money, had been stolen.
Dr. Ayine dismissed these allegations as an "insult" to the security services, warning Afenán-Markin to cease his "maligning" of law enforcement officers and himself. He assured the public that all investigations were being carried out ethically and in the best interest of the nation.
“If Afenyo-Markin is daring me, I will make that recording available, so he should resist maligning law enforcement officers who are conducting investigations, and myself for the work we are doing,” Dr. Ayine warned.
The Attorney General's strong rebuke comes amid ongoing tensions between the government and opposition parties in Ghana. The incident has sparked concerns about the integrity of the country's security services and the need for transparency in their operations.
