Accra, Ghana - Nov 6, 2024 - The United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, has reaffirmed the enduring bilateral relationship between Ghana and the US, emphasizing that it will remain unaffected by the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election.

Speaking to the press on November 6, 2024, Ambassador Palmer highlighted the resilience and continuity of Ghana-US relations, regardless of the political administration in the White House.

Palmer assured that the US embassy is committed to deepening its partnership with Ghana, underscoring the country's significance as the foundational nation for the US in Africa. With her extensive experience in diplomatic service, Palmer noted that this is her sixth presidential election, and she has consistently served under various administrations.

“I am happy to be able to address the press because even in the excitement at the moment, I feel to emphasise that no matter who is the winner today, the United States and the embassy stand ready to deepen the partnership with Ghana.

“We are going to have new administrations in both countries, and Ghana remains the foundational country for the United States in Africa.

“This is my 6th presidential election in my career and I have faithfully served whoever is elected. The relationship with Ghana remains extremely important to the United States even with the change of administration,” she stated.

This reassurance comes after Vice President Kamala Harris's visit to Ghana in March 2023, where she reiterated the US's commitment to strengthening partnerships across Africa. The US has been actively engaging with African nations, with multiple high-level visits in recent months.
