Hajia Amina Adams, widow of the late Ayawaso East MP

Accra  – Feb 5,2026 - A recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics has put Hajia Amina Adams, widow of the late Ayawaso East MP, Mahama Naser Toure, ahead in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary. According to the survey, Adams commands a significant lead with 58% of respondents supporting her, followed by Baba Jamal, Ghana's High Commissioner to Nigeria, with 32%.

The other aspirants, Muhammed Ramne, Dr. Yakubu Azindow, and Najib Muhammed Sani, received 5%, 3%, and 2% of the vote, respectively. All five candidates successfully cleared the party's vetting process in late January and will compete in the Ayawaso East NDC primary on February 7 to determine the candidate for the March 2026 by-election.

Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, noted that the poll reflects current voter sentiment in the constituency and provides insights into the likely outcome of the primary. Adams' strong showing is attributed to her grassroots appeal, effective constituency engagement, and sympathy votes.

The Ayawaso East constituency is rallying behind Amina Adams, with supporters describing her as a unifying figure with deep community ties. Some party members are even pushing for her to run unopposed.
