Agradaa Gets-Out-of-Jail-Free Card: 15 Years to 1 Sparks Outrage
Accra ,Ghana – Feb 5,2026 - The Amasaman High Court has dramatically reduced the prison sentence of controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, from 15 years to just 1 year. The court ruled that the original punishment was "excessive" and "disproportionate" to the circumstances of the case.
The court's decision has sparked widespread debate, with some hailing it as a balanced judgment and others questioning the leniency. Agradaa's lawyers had argued that the original sentence was "too excessive", citing the relatively small amount of money involved (GH¢540).
The reduced sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, leaving Agradaa with only a few months remaining.
Nana Agradaa, rose to fame in Ghana as a controversial evangelist and self-styled prophetess gaining attention for her unconventional methods, including claiming to have supernatural powers and promising followers financial miracles.
Agradaa's troubles began when she launched a money-doubling scheme, promising to double followers' investments in just a few days. Many people, including some vulnerable individuals, invested large sums, but Agradaa failed to deliver.
