SLTF Rolls Out Second-Semester Loans to Students ahead of 'No-Fees Stress' Policy Launch

Accra, Ghana - 2 July, 2025 - The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has begun disbursing second-semester loans to tertiary students across Ghana, marking a significant step towards supporting students in their academic pursuits.

As of July 1, a total of 19,703 students have received loans, with priority given to those in private tertiary institutions whose academic calendar is ahead of their public institution counterparts.

The disbursement is part of the SLTF's efforts to provide timely financial support to students, and it comes ahead of the official launch of the "No-Fees-Stress" initiative scheduled for July 4. The initiative aims to revolutionize tertiary education financing in Ghana and promote educational equity and academic continuity.

SLTF Chief Executive Officer, Saajida Shiraz, emphasized the Trust Fund's renewed commitment to fulfilling its mandate. "The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over," she stated. "The revamped SLTF is now working diligently each day to provide timely financial support to students."

The SLTF's efforts are expected to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families, enabling them to focus on their academic pursuits
