Court clears NDC's Joana Gyan Cudjoe to contest Amenfi Central seat
Sekondi, Ghana - Nov 11, 2024 - The Sekondi High Court has lifted an injunction preventing National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Joana Gyan Cudjoe from contesting the Amenfi Central parliamentary seat in Ghana's upcoming election.
In a ruling delivered on November 11, 2024, Justice George K. Gyan-Kontoh set aside the injunction, citing changed circumstances after the NDC annulled its contested May primary and conducted fresh elections, which Cudjoe won.
Addressing the media after the court ruling, Cudjoe expressed gratitude to God, her lawyers, and the NDC, saying, "God has vindicated me." She encouraged supporters to celebrate and announced plans to launch her campaign ahead of the December 7 election.
“We thank God for everything that has happened today, especially my new lawyers who came in to rescue me…I thank God and all the NDC members, executives, and all the Western Region NDC. I must say I am very happy.”
“I have done no wrong. My only wrong was contesting and winning an election, and God indeed has proven people wrong…So I am coming home, and we will do our campaign launch and proceed with all we have to do. I know people are awaiting my arrival, so they should make merry because God has made this happen,” Cudjoe said.
