Accra, Ghana - 04 Jan, 2025 - The United States is set to send a high-level delegation to Ghana for the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025. The delegation, announced by President Joe Biden, will be led by Shalanda D. Young, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget.

The team includes prominent figures such as Virginia E. Palmer, the US Ambassador to Ghana, who has been instrumental in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. Also joining the delegation are Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, and Frances Z. Brown, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the White House National Security Council.

Mahama's inauguration marks his return to the presidency, having previously served from 2012 to 2017. His victory in the December 7, 2024, presidential election, where he defeated incumbent Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, underscores Ghana's commitment to democratic principles.
