Nursing Trainee Allowances to Be Paid from January 2026 - President Mahama

Bono East Region - 29 May, 2025 - Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised nursing trainees that his administration will settle their outstanding allowances and arrears starting January 2026.
During a visit to the Kintampo College of Health in the Bono East Region on Thursday, May 29, Mahama assured students and staff that the minister responsible for health has allocated sufficient funds in the budget to cover the payments.
“On the issue of ‘allawa’—let me assure you that the minister has made adequate provision in the budget for the payment of allowances, and the allowances will be paid from January. So you will get the arrears. When we pay the allowances, you will get the arrears,” he stated.
According to Mahama, the delay in payment was due to the government's efforts to streamline the system, ensuring trainees receive their allowances consistently through the Comptroller and Accountant General's office.
“But what has delayed is that the minister is putting in a system so that you will be paid through the Comptroller and Accountant General, so that every month when workers receive their salaries, trainees will also receive their allowances,” he added.
