Thank God for Mahama,We Pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo as President - Akyem Asuom Krontihene
Akyem Asuom, Ghana - December 29, 2024 - A prominent traditional leader in Ghana, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, has publicly expressed his disappointment with outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration.
In a recent interview with GHOne, Nana Abodade III criticized Akufo-Addo's performance, stating that he failed to utilize the country's resources effectively during his tenure.
The traditional leader also voiced his relief that Akufo-Addo's term is coming to an end and expressed optimism about the incoming administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama. Nana Abodade III likened Mahama to a "good Samaritan" who will rescue Ghana from its current challenges, citing the biblical parable in Luke 10:29.
Furthermore, Nana Abodade III accused Akufo-Addo of showing disrespect towards traditional authorities, alleging that he instructed chiefs to stand and greet him during official events. The Krontihene emphasized that Akufo-Addo's legacy is marred by his inability to utilize the country's resources effectively, leaving Ghana "stripped naked and bleeding".
“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President Mahama. As it is in Luke 10:29, Ghana has been stripped naked and Ghana is bleeding. The robbers have stolen all the goodies, so a good Samaritan has come to rescue her and put her in a good, healthy, and happy situation and also recover the loot that the robbers took,” he stated.
“It was quite clear, but people couldn’t just realize it, and some of us are happy that his reign is over. A lot of the chiefs are happy. A good friend of mine who is also a chief told me one day, ‘Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him.'”
In conclusion, Nana Abodade III urged Ghanaians to be cautious, saying, “It is not a good legacy. He could have done more. He had so much revenue, he had so much he could have done for this country, and so we pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana.''
