SLTF to Reimburse Fees for First-Year Students Under No Fee Stress Policy in June

Kumasi, Ashanti Region - 29 May, 2025 - The Student Loan Trust Fund is gearing up to disburse funds to first-year tertiary students under the "No Fee Stress" policy, with reimbursement expected to start in June 2025
According to Dr. Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the SLTF, the funds will be used to reimburse academic facility user fees for diploma program students in public tertiary institutions. Over 41,600 students have already registered for the policy, which aims to ease financial burdens and promote access to higher education.
The team visited the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on May 29, 2025, to sensitize students about the policy and registration process. Dr. Shiraz emphasized that the "No Fee Stress" policy is not a loan but a financial support system designed to ease the financial burden on students.
The "No Fee Stress" policy, introduced by President John Dramani Mahama, removes tertiary admission fees for students and provides tuition-free education for persons with disabilities. The government has allocated GH₵499.8 million for the initiative, which is expected to promote enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and create opportunities for young people. Dr. Shiraz urged eligible students to submit applications through the No-Fees-Stress portal to secure reimbursement.
