Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis Named New GES Director-General

Accra, Ghana - 27 Jan, 2025 - Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, a renowned academic and education expert, has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES). 

Professor Davis, who is currently the Provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. He holds a PhD in Mathematics Education from Monash University in Australia and has served as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow, a prestigious recognition for his contributions to education and research in Africa.

As a prominent member of the Ghana Mathematics Association, Professor Davis has been instrumental in promoting excellence in mathematics education across Ghana. He has also held leadership roles in education research, serving as Vice President of the Ghana Education Research Association (GERA-Ghana).

Professor Davis succeeds Dr. Eric Nkansah, who was appointed as Director-General of GES in October 2022. 

The announcement was made on Monday by the GES via social media.
