President Akufo-Addo Commissions State-of-the-Art Foreign Ministry Annex

President Akufo-Addo has commissioned a new state-of-the-art annex building for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra, Ghana.

The new facility commissioned on Tuesday, 17th December 2024, is designed to support the growing foreign service workforce in the country.

According to the President, a robust and efficient foreign service is crucial for any nation aspiring to greatness. The Ministry has played a key role in advancing Ghana's diplomatic successes, including establishing the Foreign Service Institute and securing the country's two-year tenure on the United Nations Security Council.

The new annex building is part of the government's efforts to strengthen Ghana's foreign service and promote regional stability and global collaboration. The facility is expected to enhance the Ministry's operational capacity and support Ghana's diplomatic initiatives, including the Accra Initiative, which aims to promote a secure and prosperous West Africa.

''On Tuesday, 17th December 2024, I commissioned the new state-of-the-art Annex building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; a key effort to meet the growing foreign service workforce in the country.
''Recognising that a robust and efficient foreign service is the lifeblood of any nation aspiring to greatness, the Ministry has been instrumental in advancing our diplomatic successes which includes establishing the Foreign Service Institute, promoting the successful bids to host the Secretariats of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Climate Vulnerable Forum here in Accra, securing Ghana’s two-year tenure on the United Nations Security Council, as well as providing leadership during my two successive terms as Chair of ECOWAS.
''Government, through the Ministry has also spearheaded key initiatives such as the Accra Initiative, which underscores our vision of a secure and prosperous West Africa, aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
"These achievements reflects Ghana’s commitment to regional stability and global collaboration,''' the President wrote in a Facebook post.
