NDC Leader and Former Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley Passes On

Accra, Ghana - 07 April, 2025 - Renowned Ghanaian diplomat and lawyer Sam Pee Yalley has died, sparking widespread condolences from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and beyond.
Yalley, who served as Ghana's High Commissioner to India from 2014, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Life and Career
Born with a passion for public service, Yalley built a distinguished career as a lawyer and government official. He served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority before his appointment as Ambassador to India by President John Mahama. During his tenure, he championed Ghana's interests abroad and fostered strong diplomatic ties with India.
Advocacy and Legacy
Beyond his diplomatic work, Yalley was a vocal advocate for female leadership in Ghana. As President of the NDC Professionals Forum, he promoted professionalism in politics and supported women's empowerment. His legacy as a respected statesman and dedicated public servant continues to inspire many.
Tributes and Condolences
NDC leaders, including Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and Deputy National Communications Officer Malik Basintale, have paid tribute to Yalley's remarkable life and service. "You were a good man! We shall meet again someday," Basintale wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post. Bagbin described Yalley as "an astute statesman and respected member of our party".
“I learnt with pain the passing of my brother and friend, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, an astute statesman and respected member of our party, the National Democratic Congress,” he wrote.
“Ambassador Yalley was a champion of professionalism in politics and a key figure of the NDC’s Professionals Forum.
