CID destroys large quantity of narcotics
The Ghana Police Service's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has destroyed a sizable amount of drugs as per directives from the the Accra Circuit Court.
Along with three medium-sized buckets of heroin, the destroyed materials comprised 248 fertilizer sacks, 315 wraps, 24 sachets, and 68 compressed slabs of other narcotics.
Prosper Kingsley Damakah, the registrar of the Accra Circuit Court, disclosed to the media that drugs were taken and utilized as proof in cases that the circuit court adjudicated between 2020 and 2024.
“Some of the cases started in 2020. The people were arrested by the Police, charged and brought to court. Judgments have been delivered in the cases’ Mr. Damakah clarified.
Witnessed by officials from the Narcotics Control Commission and the Judicial Service, the drugs were set ablaze at the coastline behind Black Star Square in Accra.
