Menzgold Case: Court of Appeal Dismisses NAM1's Bid to Halt Trial

Accra, Ghana - 20 May, 2025 - Ghana's Court of Appeal has delivered a significant blow to Nana Appiah Mensah, a.k.a Nam1, the embattled CEO of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited.

In a unanimous decision, a three-member panel of the court dismissed Mensah's application to halt his ongoing criminal trial.

The application was filed pending the determination of an appeal challenging a High Court ruling that ordered Mensah to open his defense in a case where he faces multiple charges, including gold sale without a license and money laundering.

The Court of Appeal's decision means that Mensah's trial will proceed without delay, a development that has been welcomed by aggrieved customers of Menzgold. Frederick Forson, a spokesperson for the group, described the court's decision as a step in the right direction towards achieving justice.

However, Mensah's legal team has indicated that they are considering taking the matter to the Supreme Court, citing advice from their counsel.
