Mahama Reverses Previous Govt's Land Sales to Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Accra, Ghana - 05 March, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has taken a bold step in reversing all land allocations and sales made by the previous government to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This move is aimed at reclaiming the Ministry's land at Airport Residential, which had been allocated to seven organizations and individuals.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the presidential directive on social media, hailing it as a victory for the state. According to Ablakwa, the move is seen as a significant step in protecting Ghana's assets and preventing the misuse of state property.

“President Mahama has directed that all allocations and sale of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the previous government be immediately reversed. Yesterday’s presidential directive will ensure that the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential which some 7 organisations and individuals claim to be the new owners would now be cancelled and preserved for the people of Ghana,” Ablakwa stated.

“I am enormously grateful to President Mahama for his unwavering patriotic and decisive presidential backing. Under my watch as Foreign Minister, no land or property of the Ministry, located either home or abroad would be sold. No more State Capture! For God and Country. Ghana First,'' Ablakwa wrote on social media.
