Helicopter Crash - Mahama Unveils Education Fund Initiative For Victims Children
Tamale, Ghana – 12 August, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to honor the memory of the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash by ensuring the success of his government's "reset agenda" and safeguarding the future of their children.
Speaking at the third-day funeral rites of Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, the President announced a special Education Fund to be launched during the state funeral at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15.
The President described the tragedy as a "difficult calamity," noting that the deceased were in the prime of their lives with significant responsibilities, including children still in school and infants as young as two months old. He emphasized the importance of working harder in their memory to ensure the success of the reset agenda.
The Education Fund aims to support the schooling of the children left behind by the victims. President Mahama invited individuals to contribute to the fund during the state funeral, stating, "At the funeral, we will announce some programmes for creating a fund that will assist with the education of the children... so that people who want to contribute to the future of the children they have left behind will have the opportunity to do so."
The funeral rites for Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed drew prominent figures who attended the ceremony to mourn with the attendees.
The President paid tribute to the late Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, describing him as a humble yet effective public servant.
