Mahama Appoints COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu as New IGP, Replacing Dampare

Accra, Ghana - 13 March, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has made a significant change in Ghana's police leadership, appointing Commissioner of Police Christian Tetteh Yohunu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), replacing Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
The appointment, announced on Friday, March 13 in a statement signed by Presidential Spokseperson and Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu was made in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.
