GRNMA Expresses Disappointment Over Postponed Meeting with Parliamentary Committee
Accra, Ghana - 26 June, 2025 - The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has voiced its disappointment and frustration over the postponement of a crucial meeting with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health. The meeting, initially scheduled for June 26, 2025, has been rescheduled to July 10, 2025, citing the unavailability of key stakeholders.
The GRNMA had embarked on a series of industrial actions, including a full withdrawal of services on June 9, 2025, which was later suspended on June 13, 2025, following the intervention of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health. The Association had suspended the strike in good faith, trusting the parliamentary process.
However, the postponement of the meeting has raised concerns about the implementation of critical agreements. The GRNMA has warned that further delays may trigger renewed industrial action. The Association has set firm deadlines for the implementation of previously agreed items, with four key items to be fully implemented by July 2025, and the remaining items by January 2026.
The GRNMA has expressed its expectation for reciprocity of good faith from the parliamentary committee and has called on its members to remain vigilant and await further updates. The Association has thanked its members for their solidarity and patience and the media for amplifying their concerns.
