Abandoned Health Projects in Ashanti Region will be Completed - Dr. Amoakohene Assures
Dr. Frank Amoahene is the Ashanti Regional Minister

Ashanti Region, Ghana - 06 Feb, 2025 - Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has pledged to complete abandoned health facilities in the region, prioritizing primary healthcare infrastructure to enhance healthcare delivery.

Dr Amoakohene made the assurance during an interview on Channel One TV's "The Point of View" programme.

He emphasized the administration's renewed focus on primary healthcare infrastructure, stressing the importance of preventive healthcare and empowering communities with essential information and basic first-aid skills.

He noted that, during former President Mahama's first term, substantial funding was allocated to establish and upgrade Community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) compounds and health centers, however some of these projects were later abandoned.

“For the health care delivery, we will start from the basic, the primary health care, in his [Mahama’s previous tenure] first term, we spent a lot on Community Health-Based Planning Services compound (CHPS) and health centers. Some were abandoned so the focus is that we complete most of them and make them available,'' he stated.

“The preventive aspect of health is one area you cannot do away with. So our public health department needs to be on the field and empower the people with information and first aid,'' he added.
