Going independent didn’t mean I forfeited the NDC - Wulensi MP-elect

Ghana's newly elected Member of Parliament for Wulensi, Nandaya Yaw Stanley, has shed light on his decision to contest the election as an independent candidate, while maintaining his allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview on the 'Point of View' on Channel One TV on Monday, December 23, Stanley attributed his independent bid to the overwhelming demand from his constituents, who urged him to run despite initial challenges during the party's primaries. This move, he explained, was not a rejection of the NDC, but rather a response to the people's will.

“Going independent didn’t mean I forfeited the party or anything, No. it was the choice of the people. They voted me in primaries and that was an argument between me and the incumbent and the people called me back to contest,'' he stated.

“I had no other choice but to listen to the voice of the people and exactly what I did and they really voted for me,” he added.
