Stop the Blame Games - Bawumia tells NPP

Ghana's New Patriotic Party has been urged to put aside blame and unite following its recent election defeat. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made the call during a meeting with party executives from the Klottey Korley constituency on Tuesday, Dec 10.

Dr. Bawumia attributed the party's loss to voter apathy, rather than the opposition's superior performance. He emphasized that the NPP's reduced voter turnout, down 40% from 2020, was a crucial factor in their defeat.

The Vice President stressed that blame games will destroy the party, urging supporters to focus on strengthening the NPP. He encouraged the party to look towards the future, rather than dwelling on past setbacks.

Dr. Bawumia's message comes as the NPP seeks to regroup and reassess its strategy following the election defeat. By emphasizing unity and forward thinking, the party aims to bounce back stronger and more resilient.

The Vice President expressed his faith in the party's ability to overcome its current challenges, stating that "united we stand, but divided we fall." He called on supporters to put aside individual ambitions and work towards a common goal.

“We couldn’t meet our expectations that is why we conceded. That doesn’t mean it is over. We lost a battle, not the war. I want to encourage you all. In this election, we were the ones that gave the victory to NDC. They didn’t win because their numbers didn’t change from 2020.

“Ours reduced by 40 percent. I want you all to understand that united we stand, but divided we fall. I have seen many people in pain, but I have an abiding belief in God. His ways are not our ways.

“Blame games will destroy us. Let us stand together. Stop the blame games. Let’s look at the future. Let’s concentrate on strengthening the party. It is not about individual ambition. I know we will come out successful,'' he added.
