Election 2024 : Bernard Mornah, PPP to take EC to court over disqualification
Accra, Ghana - Two disqualified presidential candidates, Bernard Mornah of the People's National Convention (PNC) and Kofi Asamoah-Siaw of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), have vowed to challenge the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision in court.
Mornah and 10 other candidates were disqualified from the 2024 presidential race due to alleged infractions in their nomination forms. The EC cited "several errors and omissions" discovered during a technical and IT review.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Mornah expressed his commitment to pursuing legal action to restore his candidacy.
“I am a law-abiding Ghanaian. My lawyers are Atuguba and Associates and many others have offered to join them to fight for the next president of the Republic of Ghana. I am grateful for the teaming lawyers who want to join Atuguba and Associates to restore me on the ballot so that the people of Ghana, the students, and the security agencies that find me the most credible person to lead this nation, will get a chance to do what he wants to so," he stated.
“So, just be assured. it is just that the coming week starts on Tuesday, and I can assure you that we will file the necessary legal works that will restore us onto the ballot paper,” he added.
Similarly, the PPP's National Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu, criticized the EC's handling of the issue.
