GES Orders Immediate Refund of WASSCE Practical Fees

Accra, Ghana – 29 July, 2025 – The Ghana Education Service has directed all heads of senior high schools to refund monies collected from students and parents for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination practical exams. This decision follows the government's release of full funding to cover the costs of the exams, including materials and logistics.

The directive instructed school heads to properly document the process with official receipts issued to acknowledge repayment thus schools are required to notify their respective Regional Directors once refunds have been completed.

The Ghana Education Service emphasizes that adhering to this directive will help reduce the financial burden on students and their families. Most importantly, it ensures that no learner is denied participation in the exams due to inability to pay. Failure to comply with the directive will be considered a serious breach of official instructions and may attract administrative sanctions.

Regional Directors have been tasked with disseminating this directive to all Heads of Schools through their respective Municipal, Metro, and District Directors of Education.
