Four Suspects in KIA-Swiss Cocaine Case Released on GHC 13m Bail

Accra, Ghana - 07 May, 2025 - Four individuals accused of attempting to export cocaine from Ghana's Kotoka International Airport have been granted bail.

The suspects, including an artefact dealer and three freight forwarders, were arrested after 73 slabs of cocaine were discovered in wooden boxes labelled as containing artefacts at the Swissport terminal.

The accused persons, Gariba Soli, Josiah Baidoo, Emmanuel Mintah, and Kwabena Ampfo Anti, were each granted bail of GHC 13 million with four sureties. As part of their bail conditions, they are required to report to the Narcotics Control Commission twice a week and have been placed on a no-fly list to prevent them from leaving the country.

The case dates back to April 14, when the suspects allegedly attempted to export the cocaine-laced boxes to the Netherlands. According to the facts presented in court, the suspects claimed the boxes contained artefacts, but a detailed examination revealed the presence of cocaine.

The accused persons have been charged with attempting to export a narcotic substance without a license, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of a narcotic substance without a license.
