Ghana's Inflation Rate Declines to 21.2% in April, Lowest in 8 Months

Accra, Ghana - 07 May, 2025 - Ghana's inflation rate has dropped to its lowest level in eight months, declining to 21.2% in April 2025.
This marks a significant improvement from the 22.4% recorded in March, and reflects the fifth consecutive month of disinflation in 2025.
The stronger cedi has played a crucial role in curbing import-related price pressures, contributing to the downward trend.
Food and non-food inflation both decreased, with food inflation dropping to 25.0% from 26.5% and non-food inflation falling to 17.9% from 18.7%. Additionally, consumer prices declined by 0.8% compared to the previous month.
The decline in inflation is a welcome relief for consumers, as it suggests that price pressures are easing. The stronger cedi has helped reduce the cost of imports, which in turn has contributed to the moderation in inflation. The trend is expected to continue, providing some respite for Ghanaians who have been grappling with high prices in recent times.
