King Mswati III of Eswatini Arrives in Ghana for Four-Day State Visit
Accra, Ghana - 24 June, 2025 - King Mswati III, the Leader of the Kingdom of Eswatini hasarrived in Ghana on a four-day state visit, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
The King was warmly received at the Kotoka International Airport by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
The reception was attended by several high-ranking government officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Works and Housing Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
A contingent of African diplomats was also present to welcome the King.
King Mswati III was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising government officials, traditional leaders, and business representatives. The King and his delegation proudly displayed their traditional attire, known as Emahiya, a cloth draped around the body and tied at the shoulder, often decorated with beads.
After the airport reception, the King was escorted to the Jubilee House, where bilateral discussions took place between the two leaders and their delegations. The King was welcomed with full military honors, underscoring the importance Ghana places on the visit.
President Mahama and Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang hosted a state banquet in honor of the King, marking a significant moment in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The four-day state visit will see King Mswati III spend a significant amount of time in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, where he will be hosted by the Asantehene.
The visit aims to deepen historical and cultural connections between the Asante Kingdom and Eswatini, in addition to strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
This visit marks the first time King Mswati III has visited Ghana since President Mahama's return to office on January 7, 2025. The King is due to return to Eswatini on Saturday, after concluding his state visit.
