Foreign Affairs Ministry Rolls Out Home Passport Delivery

Accra, Ghana - 09 May, 2025 - Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a new passport delivery service, allowing applicants to receive their passports at their homes or offices.
The initiative, led by Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, aims to streamline the passport acquisition process and reduce bureaucratic delays.
As part of the reform, Ghana Post and local delivery company Troskit will partner with the ministry to ensure passports are delivered within 15 working days of application. The new service also includes e-tracking, enabling applicants to monitor the status of their passports from application to delivery.
Minister Ablakwa explained that the reform is designed to eliminate the role of middlemen, known as "goro boys," who often take advantage of applicants. According to him, the passport office will now operate 24 hours a day, aligning with President Mahama's vision of a 24-hour economy.
“Ghanaian passport applicants are no longer required to go back to the passport application centre for their passports. We have introduced peculiar services, making sure that passports are delivered to the comfort of the homes or offices of applicants,” he said.
“The passport office, you may also have heard, is now operating 24 hours in line with President Mahama’s vision of launching Ghana into a new era of the 24-hour economy. We have also introduced e-tracking to allow passport applicants to follow the process right from application to delivery.''
“We are doing all these reforms to make sure that we do away with bottlenecks and end that phenomenon of goro boys middlemen taking advantage of the bureaucracy and delay in the passport acquisition process,” he added.
The ministry hopes that these changes will make the passport acquisition process more efficient and convenient for Ghanaians. With the new service, applicants will no longer need to visit the passport application center to collect their passports, saving time and reducing hassle.
