Ex-NSA Chiefs Fire Back at Corruption Allegations by Fourth Estate
Mustapha Ussif is a former Director-General of Ghana's National Service Authority (NSA) and former Sports Minister

Accra, Ghana - 18 Feb, 2025 - Former Directors-General of Ghana's National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi and Mustapha Ussif, have hit back at allegations of irregularities in enrolment, verification, and payment processes.

The accusations, made by the Fourth Estate in a recent publication, claimed discrepancies in figures submitted to Parliament and those available to the public.

However, the former NSA chiefs countered that the publication relied on incomplete data, omitting additional enrolment cycles for nurses and teachers.

In a statement, they also explained that the NSA payroll is only activated after stringent verification processes, and that personnel with inconsistent information are not paid.

The former Directors-General expressed shock at the Fourth Estate's reliance on unverified data, suggesting a "malicious intent" to publish a sensational story. They urged journalists to be thorough in their work, avoiding misleading stories that malign individuals without basis.

The duo welcomed President Mahama's directive for an investigation, expressing confidence that it would reveal the true state of affairs and counter the allegations. The controversy has sparked concerns about transparency and accountability within Ghana's National Service Authority.
