Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Pays Tribute to Helicopter Crash Victims
Dr. Bawumia laid a wreath at the Jubilee House in honor of the fallen heroes


Accra, Ghana – 8 August, 2025 - Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid a Ta'ziyat visit to the families of the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment and Science, and the late Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator. He also visited the family of the late Squadron Leader Peter Anala to offer condolences.

During the visits, Dr. Bawumia offered prayers for the departed compatriots and expressed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families. He emphasized that the nation shares in the grief of the families and prays for God's comfort during this difficult time.

After the visits, Dr. Bawumia laid a wreath at the Jubilee House in honor of the fallen heroes. This gesture underscored the nation's respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made by the victims.

The tragic helicopter crash has plunged the nation into mourning, with President John Dramani Mahama declaring a period of national reflection. 

The President in a televised address to the nation ,assured Ghanaians that a full and transparent investigation into the crash would be conducted, with the Ghana Armed Forces having already initiated an inquiry. The recovery of the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder was also confirmed, and the President pledged that the government would work closely with the bereaved families throughout the identification and interment process.
