Kumasi Vigil for Daddy Lumba Postponed Indefinitely
Late music legend, Daddy Lumba.

Accra, Ghana – 8 August, 2025 -The Creative Arts Agency has announced the indefinite postponement of the Kumasi edition of the Candle Light Vigil in honor of the late music legend, Daddy Lumba.

The vigil, initially scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, has been postponed as a mark of respect for the eight individuals who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash.

The decision to postpone the event comes after President John Dramani Mahama declared three days of national mourning, from August 7 to 9, 2025, in honor of the victims. The agency has offered its condolences to the families of the victims and to the nation, expressing sympathy and solidarity during this difficult time.

A successful edition of the vigil was held at the Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025, where hundreds of fans, fellow musicians, and dignitaries gathered to pay tribute to one of Ghana’s most influential musicians. Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness, aged 60.
