Ban on Drumming and Noise Making in Tema Traditional Area Begins April 25th

Tema, Ghana - 09 March, 2025 - A customary ban on drumming, noise making, and other activities has been imposed in the Tema Traditional Area, effective from April 25th to May 17th, 2025.

The ban, which is a traditional practice, aims to maintain peace and tranquility in the area during a sacred period.

The ban prohibits several activities, including burials and funerals, playing of music and drumming, and noise making. The affected areas include Tema Newtown, Ashaiman, Zeenu, Kubekro, Adigon, Saasabi, Klangon, Adjei Kojo, Sakumono, and Adjeiman.

The traditional authorities in a statement have called on residents and visitors to respect the directive and maintain peace in the communities during the ban period. The ban is a significant event in the traditional calendar of the Tema Traditional Area, and its observance is expected to promote harmony and unity among the people.
