Acting Chief Justice Describes Helicopter Crash as a 'Grievous Blow'

Accra, Ghana – 7 August, 2025 - The Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has described the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight public servants as a "grievous blow" to the nation.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, while the victims were en route to Obuasi on official assignment.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie extended his deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the people of Ghana. He affirmed the Judiciary's solidarity with the nation in mourning and urged national unity in the face of the tragedy.

The Acting Chief Justice called on Ghanaians to draw inspiration from the lives of the deceased, marked by courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty. He prayed that the Almighty God grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and grants strength, comfort, and healing to all who are affected by this calamity.
