NDC Demo: Police Issue guidelines for Nationwide protests

Accra, Ghana - The Ghana Police Service has issued guidelines and rules to govern the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) planned nationwide demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC), scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

At a press conference on Monday, September 16, 2024, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Police Public Affairs, emphasized the need for peaceful and lawful conduct during the protests.

According to her, demonstration must follow designated routes and timelines, and participants are urged to refrain from violence or property destruction.

The protest, which will take place in all 16 regional capitals, is a response to the NDC's concerns over alleged discrepancies in the voter register and the EC's rejection of the party's recommendation to audit the voter register ahead of the December election.

In a statement released on Monday, Septemeber 16, 2024, the Ghana Police service reassured the public that adequate security measures are in place to maintain order and ensure a peaceful demonstration.

According to them, security personnel will be deployed across all demonstration routes.

The demonstration is expected to take place nationwide.
