Bawumia unveils tax reforms
Accra, Ghana - Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has unveiled a comprehensive plan to transform Ghana's economy and improve citizens' lives if re-elected.
While campaigning at the Kaneshie market, Dr. Bawumia highlighted key initiatives, including a flat tax policy, tax amnesty, SME bank, women's trade empowerment fund, and removal of import duty on mobile phones.
He also promised to extend driving licence validity to 10 years, abolish the e-levy, and provide digital skills training for youth.
Key proposals include:
- Flat tax policy in cedis for all goods
- Tax amnesty to simplify compliance
- SME bank and women's trade empowerment fund
- Removal of import duty on mobile phones
- Extended driving licence validity to 10 years
- Abolition of e-levy
- Digital skills training for youth
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the NPP's commitment to supporting small businesses and women traders, and urged voters to endorse him as Ghana's next president, citing his accountability and vision for the country's future.
In a thinly veiled jab at his opponent, former President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Bawumia noted that his own eight-year term would ensure accountability, unlike Mahama's limited four-year term.
