Ghana's presidential election is heating up, with the latest development being the People's National Convention's (PNC) endorsement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

However, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains unfazed by this move.

According to the NPP, the PNC's decision to back the NDC does not reflect the views of its grassroots members.

In an interview on Citi News on Thursday,  Nov 28, Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP stated that the PNC's leadership has historically been aligned with the NDC, and this endorsement is simply a continuation of that trend.

“Is the leadership that has made their declaration, and we know that the leadership of the PNC has always supported the NDC. Bernard Monarh, we all know that everything about him is NDC.

“So it is up to the other members of the party to decide who they want to vote for and we believe that we’ll be able to speak to their mind, we’ll be able to speak to their questions, we’ll be able to speak to their emotions, and they will get to understand that Ghana, where we are today, needs somebody that can lead the poor industrial revolution,” he stated.

“It doesn’t move us. It doesn’t move us so much because I believe that it is not the entire people of PNC. It is the decision of the leadership, and the decision of the leadership is already known," he added.

The PNC's endorsement of the NDC comes after the party was disqualified from the presidential race due to errors in its nomination forms.

Despite this setback, the PNC has thrown its weight behind the NDC, in a move that is likely to shake up the electoral landscape.
