Mahama Established ORAL to Persecute Political Opponents - NPP
Henry Nana Boakye is the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party

Accra, Ghana - 14 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the government of using the anti-graft committee, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) to target political opponents.

At a press conference in Accra on Thursday, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye alleged that the committee, established to recover stolen funds, had become a tool for political persecution. He criticized the government's handling of corruption cases, saying it was selective and biased against the opposition.

The opposition party also raised questions about the whereabouts of Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, a former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for misappropriating funds. Despite her conviction, Tamakloe-Attionu remains at large, having fled the country during her trial.

“President Mahama’s administration is a growing disaster, particularly in the fight against corruption. The government-established ORAL Committee, for us, it looks like the committee was just set up as a political persecution mechanism,'' he stated.

“The ORAL committee didn’t find it appropriate to tell Ghanaians where Sedina Tamakloe is,'' he added.
