Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is Ghana's Speaker of Parliament

Accra, Ghana - 31 March, 2025 - Ghana's Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has launched a controversial initiative aimed at tackling corruption, which will see officials guilty of wrongdoing publicly shamed with a "Vulture Award".

He made the annoncement before Parliament's indefinite adjournment on Friday, March 28, 2025.

According to him, the program includes two key components: the National Integrity Award, which recognizes individuals demonstrating exceptional ethical conduct, and the "Vulture Award," which holds accountable those with the lowest integrity levels.

Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of integrity in governance and society, stating that this initiative aims to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but also desired and rewarded.

He described the program as "transformative" and a catalyst for a culture of transparency and good governance in Ghana.

"By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but desired and rewarded. We would organise an award for men and women of integrity.

"Apart from the National Integrity Award that will be awarded to men and women of integrity. There will also be what is termed a Vulture Award, which will be bestowed upon men and women with the lowest levels of integrity in the country," he added.
