CLOGSAG Declares Strike Over Appoinment of Samuel Botchway as Births and Deaths Registrar

Accra, Ghana - 14 Feb, 2025 - A nationwide strike by civil servants in Ghana is looming, as the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) takes a stand against the government's appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
In a statement, CLOGSAG accused the government of undermining the integrity of the Civil Service and Local Governments by appointing individuals with political connections to key positions.
The association has also instructed its members to stay at home from February 20 until further notice, potentially disrupting essential public services across the country.
“The National Executive Council (NEC) decided that should Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway assume office as Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry, CLOGSAG should declare a nationwide strike.
“Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway took office on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The Association has no option but to call for a nationwide strike from Thursday, February 20, 2025,'' portions of the statement read.
