Ghana's Parliament gets temporary home
Accra, Ghana - Ghana's Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has announced that parliament will temporarily relocate to the International Conference Centre's Dome, starting from the upcoming session on September 3.
He made the announcement in a press publication released on August 27, 2024, citing that the ongoing renovation work in the main chamber, which will not be completed in time for the scheduled recall.
The renovation project aims to modernize the Chamber's infrastructure, including updates to working tables, chairs, and other essential furnishings.
Bagbin cited Article 112(3) of the 1992 Constitution which empowers the Speaker to designate an alternative meeting place for Parliament when necessary.
This temporary relocation ensures the uninterrupted operation of parliamentary activities while the main chamber undergoes repairs.
