Election Watch Ghana files RTI Request for ballot printing contracts

Accra, Ghana - October 11, 2024 - Election Watch Ghana, a civic advocacy group, has formally requested detailed information on contracts related to ballot and notice of poll printing from the Electoral Commission (EC).

The Right to Information (RTI) request seeks to shed light on the procurement process, bidding criteria, and contractor selection for the critical electoral task.

Specifically, Election Watch Ghana requests:

1. Tender publication date and bidding companies' details
2. Criteria for selecting final contractors
3. Bidding process breakdown and bid evaluation methodology
4. Minutes of meetings with political parties on contractor selections
5. Communication records between the EC and shortlisted companies

The request follows the EC's October 9 announcement to commence printing ballot papers and notices of polls.

Election Watch Ghana emphasized the importance of transparency in maintaining public trust and confidence in the electoral process.
