NDC's Ewurabena Aubynn Wins Ablekuma North Seat But NPP Cries Foul

Ghana's Electoral Commission has declared Ewurabena Aubynn, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, the winner of the Ablekuma North seat. The announcement was made on Tuesday evening, following a tumultuous collation process marked by clashes between NDC supporters and security forces.

The NDC's victory has been met with resistance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), whose candidate, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyieh, alleged that the EC official was coerced into making the declaration. The NPP claims their own collation of results indicates a victory for their candidate, rather than Aubynn.

"We do not accept what was mentioned. The man was put under duress, threatened to be killed so he should just say something," she told the press.

The dispute has sparked heated exchanges, with both parties accusing each other of undermining the democratic process. The situation has been further complicated by the suspension of the collation process for nine unresolved parliamentary disputes across the country, including the Ablekuma North constituency.
