EC boots out NDC’s Joana Cudjoe from Amenfi Central Parliamentary race over forgery allegations
Accra, Ghana - October 16, 2024 - The Electoral Commission of Ghana has disqualified Joana Gyan Cudjoe, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central Constituency.
A Sekondi High Court ruling on May 31 granted an interlocutory injunction, barring Cudjoe from claiming candidacy due to alleged forgery of her voter ID and NDC party card.
The court order, effective until the matter's final determination, also prohibits the NDC and Electoral Commission from recognizing Cudjoe as candidate.
Five applicants - Gyedu Frimpong, Akubilla Daniel, Enock Ntiamoh, Isaac Twum, and Doris Aidoo - sued Cudjoe, the NDC, and the Electoral Commission, leading to the court's decision.
Deputy Chairman Samuel Tettey notified Cudjoe on October 10, citing the binding court order.
This development significantly impacts Amenfi Central Constituency's parliamentary elections.
