Arrogance is like pregnancy, you can't hide it - Mahama lambasts NAPO
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has sharply criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) running mate, for remarks concerning the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
In a recent video, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, often known as NAPO, referred to President Mills as "the one who died," seemingly forgetting his name.
This follows his previous instances where Dr. Prempeh ranked President Akufo-Addo higher than President Kwame Nkrumah and made remarks about Dr. Nkrumah that were largely regarded as derogatory.
Addressing the matter at a community engagement in the Volta Region's Akatsi North, Mr Mahama blasted Dr Prempeh's most recent remarks as both unnecessary and disrespectful to President Mills' memory.
"He can’t hide his arrogance. I was just watching a video yesterday, and he was talking about the past president. He said Rawlings, and he said Kufuor, and somehow he even forgot Professor Mills’ name, and then he said, “That one who died”.
“I mean, how can you talk like this? Very disrespectful, very insulting. Arrogance is like pregnancy. Whatever you do, it will come out,” he said.
“You can insult me because I can respond because I am life, but in our tradition, you don’t say evil things about the dead. You don’t disrespect the dead because they are not alive to respond to you,” the former president added.
