Alan Kyerematen promises to make Accra one of Africa's top cities
Accra, Ghana - October 31, 2024 - Presidential candidate for Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has unveiled a comprehensive plan to transform the Greater Accra Region into one of Africa's top five best-structured cities.
Kyerematen explained while addressng the press during his Greater Accra caravan tour that his "Greater Accra Regeneration Initiative" (GARI) focuses on 15 key areas.
According to him, GARI aligns with the Movement for Change's Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which aims to transform Ghana into a prosperous, united, and peaceful nation ². The plan's implementation will involve reviewing and aligning ongoing government projects, including donor-funded initiatives, to redevelop the city.
1. Transportation network overhaul
2. Enhanced traffic management
3. Improved waste disposal systems
4. Decongestion of the Central Business District
"GARI is a 15-point agenda to redevelop Accra by 2030 and I have strategically branded it as a GARI project to make Accra one of the top five cities in Africa by the year 2030.
“This is consistent with the strategic objectives of the Great Transformational Plan (GTP) of the Movement for Change. Accra is the capital city of Ghana.
“The implementation of the GARI Project will involve a review and alignment of all ongoing government projects including donor-funded projects aimed at the redevelopment of the city of Accra,'' he added.
Kyerematen's vision for a transformed Accra has received widespread attention, with many endorsing his ambitious plan.
