We Are Not Recruiting - Ghana Immigration Service Issues Alert on Fraudulent Job Offers on Social Media

Accra, Ghana - 22 June, 2025 - Ghana's Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a warning to the public about fraudulent recruitment scams circulating on social media, cautioning individuals against falling prey to fake job offers.

In a statement released on June 20, 2025, GIS clarified that it is not currently conducting any recruitment exercises, contrary to claims being made on various social media platforms.

The Service emphasized that all official announcements regarding recruitment will be published in the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times newspapers, and not on social media.

The GIS expressed concern over the proliferation of fake social media pages impersonating the Service, using its images and videos to deceive unsuspecting individuals into believing they are applying for legitimate job openings. According to GIS, These scammers often demand payment from applicants in exchange for employment, the Service warned.

The GIS described these acts as criminal and urged those behind the scams to desist immediately. Prospective applicants were advised to exercise caution and patience, and to report any suspicious recruitment claims to the Ghana Police or the nearest GIS office.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the GIS is committed to protecting the public from such scams and ensuring that its reputation is not tarnished by fraudulent activities. The public is urged to remain vigilant and verify any recruitment information through official channels before taking any action.
