GAF Pledges Security Support for 24-Hour Economy Policy

Accra, Ghana - 26 June, 2025 - A high-level delegation led by Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Policy and Accelerated Export Development, Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, met with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Burma Camp to discuss security support for the policy's effective implementation.

Mr. Tanoh highlighted the critical role the Ghana Navy would play in securing the Tema and Takoradi harbours once the policy is launched, emphasizing its potential to boost economic activity, create jobs, and improve productivity across various sectors.

The Force Commander of the Accra Initiative Multinational Joint Task Force and Chairman of the GAF committee on the 24-Hour Plus Economy Policy, Brigadier General Winfried Dzandu-Hedidor, assured that the GAF would provide a secure environment for businesses and citizens to operate around the clock.

The GAF's commitment to safeguarding the country's territorial integrity and supporting internal security operations was reiterated. Key areas of focus included physical and operational security, border and trade security, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure protection.

Other priority areas discussed were supply chain resilience, anti-corruption measures, strategic management of the GAF's Engineers concept, and partnerships with the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC).

The collaboration between the government and the GAF is expected to create a conducive environment for the 24-Hour Economy Policy to thrive, driving economic growth and development in Ghana.
