The discussion comes as world leaders gather to address pressing global challenges, including climate change, sustainable development, peace, and security. As the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, President Mahama emphasized the need for a reset in global governance models, positioning Africa as a driver of its own development. He emphasized health as a cornerstone of Africa's Reset, showcasing sustainable, sovereignty-driven solutions.
Ghana and the UNDP will continue to collaborate in line with the Resetting Ghana Agenda, focusing on innovative approaches to governance and resource allocation. President Mahama stressed the importance of Africa taking responsibility for its own development, citing Ghana's strides in health as a model for the continent. This includes the passage of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Act and the establishment of a National Vaccine Institute.
The agenda aims to reform the global governance architecture with health as the entry point, ensuring Africa is not merely a participant but a co-designer and co-owner of global health solutions.
