President Mahama Names 12-Member Board for Bank of Ghana

Accra, Ghana - 26 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's central bank, the Bank of Ghana, has a new governing board, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama. The 12-member board, announced on Wednesday, brings together experts from various fields, including economics, law, finance, and auditing.

Dr Johnson Pandit Kwesi Asiama will chair the board as Governor, with Dr Zakari Mumuni serving as 1st Deputy Governor. Other key appointments include Thomas Nyarko Ampem, representing the Ministry of Finance, and economists Augustine Fritz Gockel and Isaac Adongo.

A statement from the Presidency, signed by Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the new board is expected to provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Bank of Ghana, ensuring the stability of the country's financial system and promoting economic growth.

The appointments are in line with the Constitution and the Bank of Ghana Act.
