The seat of government is propagating fake news about me - Mahama

Ghana's main opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama, has made a stunning accusation against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. Mahama claims that the government is secretly orchestrating a fake news campaign aimed at discrediting him ahead of the December 7 general elections.

Mahama's allegations were made during a visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region.

The opposition leader urged the Asantehene to disregard reports accusing him of orchestrating an attack on his convoy in Techiman, labeling them as baseless and intended to sow discord.

Mahama emphasized his commitment to peaceful campaigns and expressed his desire for credible and transparent elections.

He called on all stakeholders to prioritize unity and national interest over divisive tactics.

“The seat of government knows about the recent propagation of fake news…Because their campaign has failed, they have resorted to lying and propagating fake news.

“But I know God knows everyone’s heart, and just as He enstools kings, He will have mercy on us and enstool His king,” he stated.
